Vinea is the other drink Slovaks miss abroad: a lightly sparkling grape soft drink developed in 1973 at the wine research institute in Bratislava, made from real grape must — white from Slovak white grapes, red from blue varieties. No caffeine, no artificial colours, and a taste somewhere between grape juice and a very light spritzer without the alcohol.
Three white and three red 0.33 l cans, made by Kofola a.s. Cans only, because glass does not survive the post and PET does not travel well. Six cans weigh 2.2 kg with packing, so the pack is priced to cover shipping; order it with a box and the shipping per item drops a lot.
Serve cold. The white is the classic; the red is what your Slovak partner's father drinks.
Ingredients: water, grape must 20 %, sugar, carbon dioxide, acidity regulator citric acid, antioxidant ascorbic acid, natural grape flavouring. Allergens: none. Contains sulphites below labelling threshold.
