A 20 cm dessert plate from Slovenská ľudová majolika in Modra, painted by hand in the traditional wine-region pattern: a central rosette of blue and ochre flowers with a rim of vine leaves. It is the plate a Slovak household keeps for the Christmas sweets and the one that ends up on the wall between Christmases.
Made the way the workshop has made it since 1883 — thrown, tin-glazed, painted freehand, fired twice — so each piece varies slightly in the brushwork. Painted signature and workshop stamp on the back; a hanging hole is pressed into the foot ring if you want to display it.
Food-safe glaze; hand-washing recommended. Shipped double-boxed in a moulded-pulp insert with the corners protected; breakage in transit replaced free of charge.
On Slovakia's Intangible Cultural Heritage list and featured by Homo Faber.
