Čičmany Pattern Tea Towel

The white geometric patterns painted on the dark log houses of Čičmany, a village in the Strážov hills, are the most recognisable Slovak folk design — the village was declared a folk-architecture reserve in 1977 and the pattern turns up on everything from the national ice-hockey jersey to Etsy phone cases. This tea towel keeps it honest: a hand-drawn version of the original house ornaments, screen-printed in white on a deep indigo-blue cotton.

100 % cotton, 50 × 70 cm, hemmed with a hanging loop, printed and sewn by a small textile workshop in Žilina region that supplies Slovak design shops. Washable at 40 °C; the print softens slightly with washing and looks better for it.

Folds flat to 120 g, so it fits in any parcel — a good way to turn a snack box into a gift for a non-Slovak household.
