Slovak wire craft — drotárstvo — was put on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2019, three centuries after tinkers from the Kysuce hills started walking Europe mending pots with wire. Today a small number of wire artists carry the craft into decor and sculpture, and this heart is one of the pieces that best shows the technique: a frame of thick blackened iron wire filled with a woven lattice of fine wire, tied by hand without solder.
About 18 cm tall with a hanging loop; it works on a wall, a door or a Christmas wreath, and looks especially good against white plaster or wood. Each piece is made by hand and differs slightly in the weave.
Shipped in a flat rigid box padded against deformation; a slightly bent point can be eased back by hand. Comes with a card on the craft in Slovak, English and German.
